I found these delightful self-watering containers at a local hardware store. I always begin the growing season with the good intention for watering my plants regularly. Slowly but surely, as the season moves into the hot and sticky months, my intentions are quickly forgotten and my garden begins to fade. I’m hoping these little babies will help me find success this year.

Those seem similar to the self-wicking containers Mr. Leon tells how to make (more cheerful, too, since mine are black). If you’re interested, he teaches how to make them here – 2 things I learned by trial and error, having an air layer between water and soil is important to keep the soil from getting too soggy. Second, putting compost on the bottom instead of our sandy soil makes a huge difference.

Yep, I’ve seen Mr. Leon’s videos… he’s a champ! I read lots of reviews for these planters and followed the directions for their system. I’m thrilled to see so many self-watering options out there these days! Thanks for sharing!😊
